To register to vote in Connecticut
you must:
- be a
U.S. citizen
- be at
least 17 years of age (you can vote when you turn 18)
- be a
resident of a Connecticut town
- not
be convicted of a felony, or if so, your sentence has been completed.
You may register to vote
at the following locations:
- Registrar of
Voters or Office of the Town Clerk, Town Hall, 505 Silas Deane Highway
- Department
of Motor Vehicles
You may also register
to vote by mail by requesting a mail-in registration form.
The following departments also distribute
mail-in voter registration forms:
- Connecticut Department of Social Services
- All Armed Forces Recruitment offices
- Public Libraries, including the Wethersfield
Public Library
To enroll in the Democratic
Party in Connecticut:
- As a new elector you should complete line
9 of the voter registration application
- You may also change your existing party
enrollment at any time by requesting a voter application card
and checking the box marked party enrollment change *

Anyone transferring from one major
or minor party to another major or minor party shall acquire party
privileges 3 months after filing an application with the registrar.
An unaffiliated elector who enrolls in a party acquires enrollment
privileges immediately.

Absentee ballots may be applied for in the Town Clerk's office, 505 Silas Deane Highway. The form to apply for an absentee ballot may also be obtained from the Secretary of the State's web site.
